High School Graduates Earning a 2-year or 4-year Postsecondary Degree
Postsecondary completion data is provided for Elkhart County high school graduates who complete a 2-year or 4-year degree at an Indiana public college. This data follows cohorts of Elkhart County graduates who enroll in a public college and reports the percentage of those students who complete a degree “on-time” (within two years or four years depending on the degree program).

On-time completion of a postsecondary degree is indicative of students’ preparation for success in postsecondary, their fit with their chosen program, and the supports they receive that help them to thrive during their postsecondary program. Too many students who attend postsecondary and do not complete a degree incur debt without gaining an advantage in the workforce or determining a pathway for future success. Students who do not graduate on-time often acquire additional debt and delay the start of their career and the opportunity to begin earning income. Although many of the factors that impact on-time completion are dependent on the policies, practices and programs at postsecondary institutions, students’ high school preparation also impacts their ability to complete their degree. For example, students who enter a postsecondary program with dual credit are more likely to complete on-time.
