This indicator tracks the percentage of graduates earning a credential while in high school, such as an associate degree, Indiana College Core (ICC), Technical Certificate (TC), Certificate of Graduation (CG), or Certificate (CT).
Source: Percentage of Elkhart County high school graduates earning credentials while in high school, includes graduates from public schools, accredited nonpublic schools and third-party accredited choice nonpublic schools, as reported at the county and state level by Indiana Commission of Higher Education, calculated by subtracting non-credential earners from total number of graduates, collected and calculated into percentages by Horizon Education Alliance, cohort years 2015-2023

The opportunity to earn a college/career readiness credential along with a high school diploma helps to propel students into the next stage of their postsecondary and career pathway. These opportunities help students to earn critical technical and employability skills relevant for employment and to earn a portable and stackable credential that can be a stepping stone to an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. These credentials also enable students to reduce the cost of future postsecondary education.
